Kaivo

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026 · Kaivo SARL, Douala, Cameroon

This document describes how the application actually works. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel and does not constitute legal advice.

1. Purpose

These terms govern your use of Kaivo, an application connecting clients with independent professionals in Cameroon: hair styling, food, makeup, nail and lash technicians, freelancers, agricultural vendors, as well as courier delivery. By creating an account you accept them in full.

2. Publisher

Kaivo SARL — Akwa, Douala, Cameroon. For any question about these terms:

3. Account and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • One account per person. The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account.
  • Tell us without delay if you notice unauthorised access.

4. Kaivo's role

Kaivo is a technical intermediary. The service agreement is formed directly between the client and the professional: we are not a party to it, we do not provide any of the listed services, and we do not supervise them.

Kaivo never holds, moves or escrows funds. Money travels directly between you and the other party through your Mobile Money operator. The application records and checks a declaration of payment, which is not the same as taking payment.

5. Roles and identity verification

  • Client: posts requests, books services, orders deliveries.
  • Professional: must submit an identity document during sign-up. The profile only becomes publicly visible once our team approves the verification.
  • Courier: a separate application, also subject to identity verification.
  • The administrator role is granted manually and is not available on a self-serve basis.

A “verified” badge means we received and checked an identity document. It is not a guarantee of skill, professional qualification, or quality of work.

6. Mobile Money payments

The payment flow works as follows:

  • You pick an operator (MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money) and an amount in FCFA.
  • The application composes a USSD code that you confirm on your handset, with your operator.
  • You paste the confirmation SMS you receive; the application extracts the transaction reference from it.
  • The transaction is recorded as “pending”, then manually approved or rejected by our team.

A rejection means we could not reconcile the declared payment. Because Kaivo does not hold funds, a rejection involves no charge and no refund on our side: any dispute about an actual debit is a matter for your Mobile Money operator.

The application deducts no automatic commission from payments between a client and a professional. Any paid Kaivo offering, in particular the Premium subscription, is shown to you in the app with its price before you confirm anything.

7. Bookings, jobs and deliveries

  • Scope, price and date of a service are agreed between the client and the professional.
  • A posted job must honestly describe the work expected; a proposal must be made in good faith.
  • During an active delivery, the courier's position is shared with the client concerned until the parcel is handed over.
  • Repeated late cancellations or unannounced no-shows may lead to suspension.

8. Content you publish

You keep ownership of your portfolio photos, reels, posts, comments and messages. You grant Kaivo a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display them in the application, solely to operate the service.

You warrant that you hold the rights to what you publish, including the consent of anyone appearing in it.

9. Community rules

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Illegal, violent, hateful, discriminatory or sexual content.
  • Harassment, threats and intimidation.
  • Fake listings, fake reviews and fabricated transaction references.
  • Impersonation and use of someone else's identity document.
  • Any attempt to bypass security controls or reach other users' data.

A breach may lead to content removal, suspension or closure of the account, and a report to the authorities where the law requires it.

10. Disputes between users

If you disagree, first contact the other party through the in-app messaging. Our team can step in to mediate and review the available material — conversation history, delivery proofs, declared transactions.

This mediation is a good-faith service. Since Kaivo holds no funds, it cannot result in a refund or a payout from us.

11. Liability

Kaivo is not liable for property damage, personal injury or financial loss arising from a service agreed between a client and a professional. We provide the application “as is” and guarantee neither uninterrupted availability nor the accuracy of information published by users.

Professionals and couriers are strongly advised to hold professional liability insurance suited to their activity.

12. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. You can request closure of yours and deletion of your data at any time by writing to the contact address above; deletion is not yet available directly from the settings screen.

13. Changes

These terms may change as the application evolves. Any substantial change will be flagged in the app before it takes effect.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by Cameroonian law. Failing an amicable settlement, disputes fall to the competent courts of Douala.
