Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 · Kaivo SARL, Douala, Cameroon

This document describes the data the application actually processes. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel and does not constitute legal advice.

1. Who we are

Kaivo SARL, Akwa, Douala, publishes the Kaivo application, which connects clients with independent professionals in Cameroon. For any question about your data:

legal@kaivo.app

2. Data we collect

  • Account: display name, email address, phone number, city, role (client, professional, courier, administrator).
  • Professional profile: biography, category, base price, the coordinates of your working area, portfolio photos.
  • Identity verification: front and back photos of your identity document, for professionals and couriers only.
  • Location: precise GPS position and device heading while the map is open or during an active delivery.
  • Orders and deliveries: pickup and drop-off points, status, hand-over proof photos.
  • Content: messages and attachments, posts, comments, likes, follows, reels, jobs and proposals.
  • Payments: Mobile Money number, the transaction reference extracted from the SMS, amount, purpose and status.
  • Technical: push notification token, theme and language preferences, technical logs needed to run the service.

3. Why we use them

  • Create your account, manage your session and enforce the rights attached to your role.
  • Show nearby professionals and let a delivery in progress be tracked.
  • Verify the identity of professionals and couriers before their profile goes live.
  • Manually reconcile declared Mobile Money payments.
  • Send you notifications tied to your activity: message received, verification status, payment status, delivery progress.
  • Prevent fraud, moderate content and enforce the community rules.

We do not sell your data to anyone and do not use it for targeted advertising.

4. Permissions on your phone

  • Location: requested when the map opens and for courier mode. Declining leaves the rest of the application usable.
  • Notifications: needed for message, payment and delivery alerts.
  • Camera and files: to submit an identity document, portfolio photos or an attachment.

Each of these permissions can be revoked at any time in your phone's settings.

5. Location

Your position is only read while the application is open in the foreground: on the map, and during a delivery you are carrying out as a courier. The application does not track you in the background.

During a delivery, your courier position is visible to the client concerned. A professional's working area, by contrast, is publicly visible on the map: do not pin your home address there unless you intend to.

6. Identity documents

Identity document images are uploaded to private storage, kept separate from public portfolio images. Only the verification team can reach them, through time-limited signed links, and they are never published or passed to other users.

They are kept for as long as verification and fraud prevention require, then deleted on request wherever no legal obligation prevents it.

7. Messaging and content

Conversations are not end-to-end encrypted: they are stored on our servers so they can be delivered to your devices, and our team may read them when handling a report or a mediation. Avoid sending sensitive documents through them.

Posts, comments, reels and portfolio photos are visible to other users of the application.

8. Technical providers

The application relies on the following services, which process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase (Lovable Cloud): database, authentication and file storage.
  • Vercel: hosting for the web version.
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivery of push notifications.
  • Resend, through the Lovable connector gateway: service emails (identity verification, payment status).
  • CARTO and OpenStreetMap: map tiles. Displaying a map sends your IP address to these providers.

These providers operate outside Cameroon, so using the application involves transferring your data to their infrastructure. We also disclose data to the authorities where the law compels us to.

9. What other users see

  • Your display name, picture and role are visible to the people you interact with.
  • A professional sees the name, phone number and address needed for the service they are to perform.
  • A courier sees the pickup and drop-off points of the order assigned to them.
  • Your Mobile Money number is never shown to other users.

10. Security

Traffic to our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to data is partitioned row by row in the database: every query is filtered by the user making it and their role. Identity documents and delivery proofs live in private storage, out of reach of direct access.

No system is infallible. Should a data breach occur that is likely to harm you, we will tell you.

11. Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. On closure it is deleted, except for what we must retain to meet a legal obligation or to handle an ongoing dispute — in particular the record of declared transactions.

12. Your rights

On written request, we undertake to let you:

  • access the data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected where it is inaccurate;
  • obtain its deletion, along with your account;
  • receive a copy of it in a readable format;
  • object to a particular use of it.

Write to the address below; we answer within thirty days.

13. Storage on your device

The application stores your session, your theme preference and your language locally. No advertising cookies or third-party trackers are used.

14. Changes

Any substantial change to this policy will be flagged in the application before it takes effect.
